Financial Controller Consumer Investment Group Oxford 90,000- 100,000 + Bonus & Benefits

Zachary Daniels is partnering with an ambitious, privately owned consumer investment group to recruit an experienced Financial Controller for its central Oxford office.

The business is building and developing a portfolio of established companies, with a clear strategy focused on investment, acquisitions and long-term growth.

As the portfolio expands, the group is strengthening its central finance function and is looking for a technically strong Financial Controller who can take ownership of complex financial reporting, group consolidations and investment-related accounting.

This is an opportunity to work closely with the senior leadership team of an entrepreneurial business, with genuine exposure to investment decisions, acquisitions and the financial management of a growing portfolio.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Managing Partner, you'll take responsibility for the accounting, financial control and reporting requirements across multiple companies and investment entities.

The role combines technically demanding financial accounting with financial planning, investment valuations and wider commercial analysis.

You'll have the opportunity to help develop the group's reporting processes and financial infrastructure as new businesses are acquired and the portfolio continues to grow.

You'll also manage an Accountant, providing oversight of the day-to-day finance activities while taking ownership of the more complex aspects of financial reporting.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing group financial statements and consolidations across multiple companies and investment entities.
• Managing complex accounting requirements under IFRS and relevant UK accounting standards.
• Taking ownership of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting.
• Preparing detailed quarterly financial analysis, forecasts and investment performance reports.
• Supporting the preparation and review of investment valuations and associated financial models.
• Developing financial plans, budgets and cash flow forecasts across the group.
• Working closely with the Managing Partner on financial analysis to support investment and commercial decisions.
• Supporting the financial reporting and accounting requirements associated with acquisitions and new investments.
• Developing and maintaining robust financial controls, accounting policies and reporting processes.
• Managing relationships with external auditors, tax advisers and other professional partners.
• Overseeing statutory reporting, compliance and year-end accounting requirements.
• Managing and developing an Accountant, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the day-to-day finance function.

About You

We're looking for an experienced Financial Controller with strong technical accounting skills and the confidence to operate independently in a complex, multi-entity environment.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• A recognised accounting qualification, ideally ACA or ACCA.
• Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and experience preparing consolidated group accounts.
• Experience working with complex group structures, multiple legal entities or investment-related accounting.
• A good understanding of financial planning, forecasting, cash flow and financial controls.
• Excellent Excel skills and confidence working with detailed financial models and complex data.
• Experience managing year-end reporting, audits and external professional advisers.
• The ability to communicate financial information clearly and work directly with senior decision-makers.
• A hands-on approach, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a varied workload.

Experience within private equity, investment management, corporate finance, financial services or an acquisition-led business would be particularly interesting.

We would also welcome candidates from larger accounting practices who have strong consolidation and technical reporting experience and are looking to move into a broader, commercially involved position.

Just as importantly, we're looking for someone who enjoys working in a smaller, entrepreneurial environment. Someone approachable, collaborative and comfortable getting involved in the detail, who can bring the right level of structure without unnecessary complexity.

• 90,000- 100,000 basic salary, depending on experience.
