A care organisation in Hackney is looking for a dedicated and highly capable Catering Manager to take the reins of our catering department. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on professional who can quickly build relationships, lead a small team, and ensure the continued delivery of a high-quality catering service.
St Joseph's Hospice provides outstanding care and support to individuals living with life-limiting illnesses. Our catering team plays an essential role in enhancing the wellbeing of patients, families, staff, and visitors through the provision of nutritious, high-quality meals and refreshments.
We are seeking an experienced manager who can hit the ground running, providing stability, leadership, and operational oversight from day one.
As a Catering Manager, you will:
- Lead the day-to-day operation of the catering department.
- Manage, support, and develop a dedicated catering team comprising:
- 2 Chefs
- 3 Catering Assistants
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality food services to patients, visitors, and staff.
- Maintain the highest standards of food hygiene, health and safety, and compliance.
- Manage stock control, ordering processes, supplier relationships, and budgets.
- Oversee staff rotas and resource planning.
- Drive service improvements and operational efficiencies where appropriate.
- Ensure all dietary, nutritional, and food safety requirements are met.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Proven experience in a Catering Manager or Catering Supervisor role.
- Previous experience managing catering operations within healthcare, hospice, care, education, or similar settings.
- Strong people management and leadership skills.
- Excellent knowledge of food safety legislation and compliance standards.
- Experience managing budgets, stock, and catering resources.
- The ability to work autonomously and take ownership of the service from the outset.
- A proactive and solution-focused approach.
- Relevant Food Hygiene qualifications (Level 3 desirable).
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Standard DBS check.
