Senior Accountant

  • Location: Lancaster
  • Salary: From £45,000, depending on experience
  • Job Type: Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days from home)
  • Start Date: ASAP

We are delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a growing and ambitious accountancy practice in Lancaster. This role is perfect for an individual who enjoys combining technical accounting expertise with leadership responsibilities and is looking to play a key role in the development of both clients and colleagues.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Preparation and review of statutory accounts, management accounts, and tax returns.
  • Managing a portfolio of clients and building strong working relationships.
  • Providing proactive business and financial advice to clients.
  • Ensuring all work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and support business growth.

Leadership, Management & Accountability:

  • Drive ownership and accountability throughout the team.
  • Demonstrate inspirational leadership by leading through example and promoting a positive team culture.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members to support their professional growth and maximise performance.
  • Review work completed by accountants and provide constructive, supportive feedback.
  • Take a hands-on approach to team leadership, ensuring individuals feel motivated, engaged, and well supported.
  • Implement and monitor performance measures, helping the team achieve both individual and departmental objectives.
  • Support the wider business through collaboration, communication, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • ACA or ACCA qualified.
  • Highly experienced AAT-qualified candidates will also be considered.
  • Previous experience working within an accountancy practice.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop others.
  • Commercially aware with a proactive and client-focused approach.
