Procurement Manager

Cardiff £48,000 + Benefits Permanent

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Procurement Manager to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business based in Cardiff.

This is a key leadership role, responsible for managing both Procurement and Stores operations while ensuring the efficient, cost-effective and compliant supply of materials, goods and services to support a busy operational environment.

Reporting to the Head of Procurement, Planning & Logistics, you will play a pivotal role in driving supplier performance, commercial value, inventory control and continuous improvement across the business.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead, coach and develop the Procurement and Stores teams, creating a high-performing culture.
  • Develop and implement procurement and category strategies that deliver value and support business objectives.
  • Manage supplier sourcing, negotiations and contract performance.
  • Ensure the timely availability of materials, goods and services to support production and customer commitments.
  • Monitor supplier performance and drive improvements in cost, quality and delivery.
  • Analyse spend, procurement and inventory data to identify efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Oversee supplier approval, audit and compliance activities.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders across Operations, Engineering, Planning and Finance.
  • Champion continuous improvement and best practice throughout the procurement function.

About You

  • Experience in a Procurement Manager or Senior Procurement position.
  • A background within engineering, manufacturing, heavy industry, rail or a similar technical environment.
  • CIPS qualification (or equivalent professional procurement accreditation).
  • Proven experience leading and developing procurement and/or stores teams.
  • Strong supplier relationship management and commercial negotiation skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • A proactive approach with a passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
