My client is seeking an experienced Asset Accountant with local government experience and expertise in IFRS 16 for a permanent role. You will support the financial reporting framework and work closely across services, ensuring that financial accounts accurately reflect the Council's activities.
Day to day the role duties will include:
- Lead on asset accounting activities in line with the CIPFA Code of Practice and local government accounting requirements
- Support and deliver the closedown process for asset accounting, ensuring all fixed asset transactions and adjustments are accurate and complete
- Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register, ensuring integrity of asset data
- Account for capital additions, disposals, revaluations and impairments in accordance with statutory guidance
- Liaise with valuers and internal stakeholders to ensure asset valuations are accurately reflected in the accounts
- Provide working papers and supporting analysis for the external audit process, responding to audit queries as required
- Support improvements to asset accounting processes and controls where appropriate
To be considered for the role you will need to be a CCAB qualified accountant as well as have some experience in Asset Accounting within Local Government.
This is a permanent role with 1 day a week required in the office. The salary being offered is 54,000 - 60,000
