Job Description

  • Join a leading specialist commercial insurance business
  • Hybrid working (2-3 days in Birmingham office with regional travel)

Must have's
  • Minimum 3+ years' experience in a claims management or team leader role within commercial insurance
  • Strong background in insurance broking and commercial claims handling
  • Experience leading, coaching and developing teams
  • Strong understanding of insurance principles and regulatory/legal frameworks
  • Confident managing performance, MI reporting and operational workflows
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Nice to have's
  • Cert CII qualification (or working towards)
  • Experience working across multiple office locations or regional teams
  • Exposure to complaints handling and regulatory escalation processes
  • Experience using performance dashboards and MI tools
So, what will you be doing?
  • Leading, coaching and mentoring a commercial claims team
  • Running regular 1-2-1s, performance reviews and development plans
  • Driving a culture of accountability, high performance and continuous improvement
  • Supporting recruitment, onboarding and performance management activity
Claims Operations
  • Overseeing day-to-day claims operations and workflow management
  • Supporting resolution of complex claims and escalations
  • Managing complaints in line with regulatory requirements
  • Working closely with Compliance, HR, L&D and Broking teams
Performance & Reporting
  • Producing and reviewing claims MI and performance reports
  • Identifying trends, bottlenecks and improvement opportunities
  • Using data and dashboards to improve efficiency and service delivery
  • Supporting audits and ensuring ongoing regulatory compliance
Stakeholder & Client Focus
  • Building strong internal and external relationships
  • Working closely with client servicing teams to improve client outcomes
  • Acting as an escalation point for complex issues
  • Ensuring consistently high levels of client service across the team
