Our client, a well-established manufacturing organisation in Cramlington, Northumberland, is on the lookout for an experienced, hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to bolster their maintenance team. The Role:
As an integral member of the site maintenance team, you will be responsible for the upkeep, repair, and enhancement of a diverse range of manufacturing equipment. This position is predominantly mechanical, with opportunities for basic electrical fault-finding as needed. While electrical skills are a bonus, they are not mandatory, and our client is committed to supporting your professional development in this area.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform planned and reactive mechanical maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Work on mechanical systems including gearboxes, bearings, pumps, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Provide support for basic electrical fault-finding when required.
• Assist with the installation, modification, and improvement of machinery.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety standards.
• Collaborate with production teams to enhance site performance.

What We're Looking For:

• Proven mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• A recognised mechanical qualification (e.g., apprenticeship, NVQ, HNC) or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Strong fault-finding skills and a practical, methodical approach.
• Basic electrical knowledge or a willingness to learn (desirable, not essential).
• Open to candidates currently titled Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Fitter, or Maintenance Technician.
