Job Description

Agricultural / Commercial Property Solicitor

Penrith Full-time Office-based (Hybrid considered)

A well-established and highly respected Cumbria-based law firm is looking to recruit an Agricultural and/or Commercial Property Solicitor to join its growing team in Penrith.

This opportunity is being managed on a retained recruitment basis, reflecting the importance of the hire and the firm's commitment to securing the right long-term candidate.

The Role

You will join an experienced agricultural and property team, working on a broad range of matters including:

  • Agricultural land sales and purchases
  • Rural and farming-related property matters
  • Commercial property transactions
  • Acting for landowners, farmers, and rural businesses
  • Managing your own caseload with minimal supervision

The role has arisen due to a developing skills gap within the team and planned long-term succession, making this a key strategic hire for the firm.

The Team

  • Led by an experienced Head of Department
  • Supported by solicitors and trainees who have progressed naturally and internally
  • A collaborative and stable, office-based working environment

The Ideal Candidate

  • 3-5 years' PQE (this is the ideal range, though strong candidates slightly outside this will be considered)
  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales
  • Experience in agricultural law and/or commercial property
  • Able to hit the ground running
  • Happy with a predominantly office-based role in Penrith
  • NQ-level candidates will not be considered for this role

Working Arrangements

  • Full-time, office-based role in Penrith
  • The current team works full-time from the office
  • Hybrid working may be considered for candidates based further afield

Why Apply?

  • Retained role with a clear and genuine brief
  • High-quality agricultural and rural property work
  • Opportunity to step into a key role within the department
  • Long-term career prospects within a respected regional firm
  • A competitive salary is on offer, commensurate with experience
