Enhanced DBS on the update service is essential for this vacancy Hays Education are working with a welcoming and well-established primary school near Hexham to recruit an experienced Caretaker on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong site management or caretaking experience who is available for a short-term placement and ready to make a positive impact.As the school Caretaker, you will be responsible for:

• Opening and/or closing the school site (depending on shift pattern)
• Ensuring the school grounds and buildings are clean, safe, and secure
• Carrying out basic repairs and maintenance
• Conducting regular health & safety checks
• Liaising with staff, contractors, and the wider site team
• Supporting with general facilities management tasks as required

Shift Options

• Split Shift: AM and PM
• PM-Only Shift: Available depending on preference

What You Will Need

• A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential)
• Previous experience in a caretaking, facilities, or site management role
• Reliability, initiative, and the ability to work independently
• Good practical skills and an understanding of health and safety standards
