We are looking for a talented third line engineer to primarily architect, install and support a wide range of Servers and networks from small to medium sized businesses whilst keeping up to date with IT technologies and jointly lead the drive for technical knowledge within the engineering team.

£32,500 - £37,500 depending on experience

Who we are:

We are an IT & Digital Services company based near Keswick in Cumbria, providing a range of services covering managed services contracts, Servers and network installations, wired & wireless networks, VOIP and web site design and hosting.

We have stunning views from our open planned offices overlooking the breath-taking Skiddaw Massive, located in the middle of the Lake District National Park. We have some of the finest walks and outdoor goings-on in the country.

The 3rd Line Support Engineer Role:

A Managed Service Provider (MSP) is a special type of IT support company. Unlike a network administrator who may get to perform one network upgrade every three years, each of our third line engineers performs multiple network upgrade projects every year. It is essential that our senior IT team keep current with the latest industry software and cloud services stacks and can complete these network projects on time and on budget.

Because of this there is a strong preference for candidates who have recently worked at an MSP or have at minimum performed recent deployments of Microsoft Server products, Microsoft 365, Exchange 2019, Remote Desktop Services, SQL, Cisco/Ubiquiti networks etc.

Your Responsibilities:

+ Design, implementation and support of Windows Server infrastructures and associated networks/backup solutions including cloud solutions when required.
+ Contract incident/change support for our regional Cumbrian and further afield client base involving support via telephone, remote and on-site methods.
+ Development of SLA contracts both from an internal processes/documentation perspective and dealing with new client contract requests, yearly analysis of existing contracts and renewals.
+ Ongoing development of our Helpdesk (ConnectWise Manage) and Remote Management & Monitoring (Automate/Ninja) suites, regarding custom monitors, client security patching, ticket automation and integration between the systems.
+ Working to NCSC's Cyber Essentials v3 specification as a minimum security standard.

3rd Line IT Support Engineer Technical Skills

Essential

+ At least five years of Microsoft server level IT experience.
+ Demonstrable troubleshooting skills that range from overall network diagnostics to Azure Active Directory synchronisation, mail flow issues etc.
+ Experience with Windows Server 2016/19/22, Exchange 2019, Remote Desktop Services, Hyper-V, Active Directory.
+ Microsoft 365 configuration, Azure AD Sync, Microsoft Cloud Services
+ Exposure to HP platforms and server hardware with working knowledge of RAID arrays and SANs.
+ IP network design including routing, switching, VLANS, Firewalls, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, FTTP, Wireless WAN. Good knowledge in one of the popular Firewall brands - Fortinet, Sonicwall, Cisco, Draytek etc and a working use of Cisco IOS and networking equipment.
+ Setup, configuration and troubleshooting of VoIP services/endpoints.
+ Experience in backup solutions, bare metal restores and disaster recovery.
+ Understanding of NCSC Cyber Essentials scheme at current v3 Evendine level

Desired

+ Specific knowledge of Datto, Veeam or Solarwinds Cloud Backup solutions, ESET MSP/Protect Platforms and Fortigate Next-Generation Firewalls.
+ Experience with medium and large Wi-Fi networks including point to point Wi-Fi links, carrier grade experience a bonus.
+ PCI-DSS compliance requirements.
+ A working knowledge of PowerShell.
+ SQL and VMWare exposure.
+ Linux server management and maintenance.

Non-Technical Skills

+ Good planning, follow through and documentation skills.
+ Interpersonal skills as you will be dealing with customers in all positions from board level downwards.
+ Capability to autonomously self-assign workloads and liaise with escalations from the service desk to schedule others as part of the team.
+ The candidate must be well presented, and have good written and verbal English skills
+ Full UK valid driver's licence
