The company:
Our client is a successful friendly business that designs and supplies a variety of own label and branded gift wrap, stationery, ceramics and gifts to major retail chains.
The role:
Due to growth, a newly created vacancy for a Quality Manager has arisen. As the Quality Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that the company's products and service are fit for purpose, legally compliant and meet both internal and customer requirements. Experience of having worked within an allied product area and dealing with major retailers would be a bonus.
Responsibilities:
- To set standards for product quality based on internal and customer expectations
- To ensure products are designed with adherence to legal and safety standards
- To define quality procedures in conjunction with operating staff
- To set up and maintain controls and documentation procedures
- To work with purchasing staff to establish quality requirements from suppliers
- To make sure that manufacturing or production processes meet required quality standards
- To liaise with customer technical staff to provide technical information as required
- To review product safety and arrange 3rd party testing as required
- To manage warehouse quality control checks and re-work
- To follow up customer complaints and non-conformances
- To monitor quality performance by gathering relevant data and produce quarterly quality reports
- To review existing quality, ethical and sustainability policies and drive changes and improvements
- To monitor and manage supplier performance including the quality and ethical audit programme.
- To manage the Company FSC certification
- To manage the Company Packaging Data return
The person:
The ideal candidate will be/have:
- Highly organised, with a methodical and focused work attitude and great attention to detail.
- Practical and enthusiastic, with a desire to succeed and a great work ethic.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with people quickly and effectively.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in quality control and/or a supplier assessment role.
- Knowledge or experience of the retail and manufacturing sectors would be advantageous.
- Forward thinking and pro-active with excellent time management skills to handle a varied workload.
