MS299 - Workshop Manager Location: Colnbrook, Slough Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum circa Overview: First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Workshop Manager on behalf of one of our clients. You will provide efficient and effective day to day management of the vehicle workshop, Depot and stores as well as managing the rest of the team in the workshop. You will be managing all employees employed in the workshop and yard. Ensuring that a high level of motivation is maintained and that the individual potential is encouraged and developed where possible and identify any training needs, both on the job and formal, depending on individual circumstances. Duties and Responsibilities: Ensure motivation is maintained and individual potential is encouraged and developed where possible by identifying any training needs, depending on individual circumstances. To establish and maintain a professional working relationship with the Fleet & Logistics Manager. To ensure through yourself and workshop employees the maintenance, servicing and road worthiness of all vehicles, plant and equipment based at Colnbrook and all satellite depots. Maintain control of workshop maintenance budgets. Maintain all company vehicles, plant and equipment. Maintain service schedules. Update vehicle records. Raise purchase orders on bespoke computer system as required, ensuring all parts and materials purchased are to manufacturers specifications and comply with Company purchasing policy. Manage stock levels of contracting stores and workshop supplies. Compliance with BSI audits and annual statutory checks. Managing yard personnel and maintaining a clean, tidy and safe site at all times. Managing out of hours cover for breakdowns. Maintenance of premises, and yard. Security of yard and workshop, ensuring they are kept secure at all times but especially when you are away from the site. Ensure full compliance with all Company policies and procedures including health & safety, environment and employment law. Carry out and duties such as ad-hoc projects as requested by the Fleet, Logistics & IT Manager that are within the skills and knowledge of the job holder. Manage sickness and holiday leave of the workshop and yard personnel. Skills and Qualifications: Have a good working and mechanical knowledge of commercial vehicles DAF preferred. Ideally have at least 5 years relevant experience in commercial and plant fitting. Have a basic knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics. Confident communicator both written and verbal. Computer and IT literate with an understanding of Word and Excel. Willing to undertake any additional training as deemed necessary as and when required. Strong communication skills. Problem solving. Calm under pressure. Prepared to work overtime. Forklift experience (desirable). LGV licence (desirable).
