Software Development & DevOps Manager

Salary 65,000 - 75,000 GBP per year

Requirements:

Recent experience as a C# (MVC and .NET Core) developer with good SQL skills at a senior level
Experience managing Azure subscriptions and infrastructure
Experience managing Azure DevOps pipelines, repos and projects
Some experience of managing developers (but not necessarily in a management position)
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
Good project management skills
The ability to convey technical concepts and ideas to non-technical stakeholders

Responsibilities:

- We are looking for a hybrid Software Development and DevOps Manager to support our development teams.

On the software side the Software Developement and DevOps Manager will directly manage our C#/.Net development team working on our site and you will help to support our PHP development team working on our sister product thelawsuperstore.co.uk. Although we don't expect the Software Development and DevOps Manager to code in this role, our preference is for someone who is still relatively hands on who is able to offer C#/.Net support at an application level (PHP knowledge is a bonus) and to take on a technical lead role where required to guide the team towards the best solution.

On the DevOps side you will work with the Head of Technology and senior developers to manage our Azure infrastructure and our DevOps processes. You will have a key role in ensuring that we are getting the most out of Azure infrastructure and our applications are secure, high performing and cost effective.

If you already manage people or teams in a management role then great but we are also excited to speak with you if you have less people management experience but you want to progress into a management role. We will support you on that journey.

We are a friendly small company and as such we all wear many hats! This is a great opportunity to gain a wide variety of experience and skills whilst having a lot of influence on how we develop our software and optimise our cloud infrastructure.

Some of the things you'll be doing

Line manage and offer hands on support and guidance to our C#/.Net development team (5 direct reports, 1 indirect)
Managing and optimising our Azure cloud infrastructure and DevOps processes
Take a technical lead role when required
Ensure that we are creating good quality, reliable, maintainable, secure, and high performing software and always look for ways to make improvements
Act as a scrum master to our development team to remove blockers, run scrum meetings and ensuring that work is progressing at the required pace
Manage site issues, hotfixes and technical support requests from our customers and partners
Help us move towards continuous integration, delivery and deployment
Write up technical features and backlog items in Azure DevOps when required
Work with the Head of Technology and cross-functional stakeholder groups to plan and prioritise work
