Network Engineer - Newcastle - Up to £35,000

Hays Technology are recruiting for a Network Engineer role for a large public sector organisation based in Newcastle.

Your new role

As the Network Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting the Network Manager with installation, configuration and management of network equipment and services. You will be organising, planning and prioritising your own work activities, and the work of others when necessary. You will demonstrate a flexible attitude to change to support the organisation to meet its existing and future needs.

You will be responsible for installation, termination and repair of physical cabling, copper/fibre infrastructure and associated hardware, whilst being responsible for fault finding and repairing of structured cabling and configuration of power over Ethernet for required devices. You will have responsibility for the configuration, installation and troubleshooting of new or existing network devices such as, layer 2 switches, layer 3 switches, firewalls and Aruba Wireless Access points.

What you'll need to succeed

• Experience in installation of cabling and troubleshooting connections
• Understanding of IPv4/IPv6, DNS & DHCP
• Able to use initiative to resolve complex problems by applying creativity to identify practical options and devise varied solutions
• Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues across the organisation and with external stakeholders
• Experience of working with relevant specialised process, systems and procedures
• Experience of installation, configuration and maintenance of Networking infrastructure
• A valid Cisco CCNA certification is desirable but not essential, as is proven relevant professional experience
