We have an exciting opportunity for an on-site Cook to join our team based in Hexham. The Cook Role:This role fuels our adventures! You will be a critical part of making the young people's experience with Scout Adventures amazing without great food and full stomachs our visitors and our team simply won't get the best from their time with us. This job is all about making sure our visitors and our team are ready for whatever the day throws at them. You'll coordinate all aspects of the kitchen from ordering, compliance with food hygiene standards to staffing and of course getting meals prepared and served.This role isn't just about dishing out some meals to children you will be part of a team making a real difference to young peoples lives in great surroundings with a team that thrive on knowing they are making a difference everyday.Key responsibilities as our Cook:Line manage a team of 2 staff.Ensuring our visitors have good quality balanced meals during their stayKeeping our kitchen operation in line with food hygiene and health and safety standards at all timesManage the catering budget and ensure good stock control systems are in placeDevelop and implement efficient and effective daily operating processes, ensuring that all team members have the information that they need to be great at their roles.Contribute to the development of the centre; both towards supporting the volunteer and staff team as well as the wider development of the centre.Other tasks as required to ensure that every visitor has a safe and memorable experience.What we are looking for in our Cook:At least 2 years working in a professional kitchen environment.Proven competence in managing teams in an operational setting.Experience of problem solving in a customer service focussed environment.Some experience in either an educational, outdoor educational or visitor experience environment.Confidence working in a values based working environment.Hold a suitable food hygiene qualification (e.g. Level 3 Food Hygiene)Be able to take responsibility for financial management of the catering budget and procurement.Organised and able to implement the Food Safety Management plan, and stock control systems.Ability to build effective relationships with visitors, volunteers and staff.Skilled collaborator, with the ability to use the skills of those around you to deliver best overall product.Confident IT user.What we can offer you as our Cook:25 days holiday and going up to 28 days after 2 years' service and 32 days after 5 years' serviceAdditional holidays between Christmas & New YearLife AssuranceSimply Health SchemeGenerous Pension SchemeFree car parkingWe are proud to be a family-friendly employer and offer…Up to four personal days paid leave a yearMaternity/Paternity LeaveChildcare VouchersFlexible working hoursStore Discount at our Scout Store + other online benefitsStudy and volunteer leaveClosing date for applications is Sun, 9 January 2022, 23:59Don't miss out on the opportunity to join our fantastic team!
