Job Description

Our client is looking to appoint a Site Services Engineer to support the safe, reliable operation of electrical distribution systems across their site.

This role would suit an electrically qualified engineer with experience in electrical/mechanical maintenance, fault finding, and site infrastructure. You will help maintain essential electrical services, minimise downtime, and support improvements to the site's distribution network.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance on electrical distribution equipment, including switchboards, distribution boards, circuit breakers, and associated infrastructure.
  • Investigate electrical faults, identify root causes, and complete repairs within your competence and authorisation.
  • Monitor equipment condition and recommend improvements to reliability, efficiency, and service life.
  • Support inspections, testing, shutdowns, and the installation and commissioning of new or modified equipment.
  • Work safely under site isolation, lockout/tagout, and permit-to-work procedures.
  • Coordinate with production teams, facilities colleagues, specialist contractors, and service providers to plan work and minimise disruption.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and electrical drawings.
  • Support emergency response arrangements and participate in an on-call rota where required.
  • Undertake high-voltage activities only where appropriately trained, competent, and formally authorised.

Essential

  • A recognised electrical engineering qualification, apprenticeship, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience maintaining electrical distribution systems in an industrial, manufacturing, commercial, or similar site environment.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding skills and the ability to interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
  • A sound understanding of electrical safety, safe isolation, risk assessments, and permit-to-work systems.
  • The ability to organise workloads, communicate clearly, and work independently or as part of a wider engineering team.
  • A practical approach to problem solving and a strong focus on equipment reliability.
