We're working with an established technology business that is looking for an experienced IT Field Engineer to join its technical services team.
This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are necessarily the same. You'll work across different client environments, solving technical problems, supporting infrastructure and projects, and building strong relationships with the people you support.
If you enjoy getting out from behind a service desk, meeting clients, taking ownership of technical issues and being trusted to find the right solution, this could be an excellent next step.
The Role
As an IT Field Engineer, you'll provide hands-on technical support across a range of client sites throughout the UK.
You'll be the technical face of the business for many of its clients, so you'll need to combine strong technical ability with excellent communication and customer service skills.
You'll deal with everything from day-to-day infrastructure issues and user support through to installations, migrations, upgrades and project work.
The role will suit someone who enjoys variety, is comfortable working independently and likes being presented with a problem and figuring out how to solve it.
What You'll Be Doing
The Technical Environment
We're looking for a strong all-round IT Engineer with practical experience across areas such as:
Experience within an MSP or managed services environment would be particularly beneficial, as would experience supporting multiple customers and technical environments.
You don't need to be an expert in every technology listed above. What's important is that you have a solid infrastructure background, strong troubleshooting ability and the confidence to get involved and find solutions.
The Person
We're looking for someone who is:
A full UK driving licence is essential, as regular travel to client sites will be required.
Why Consider the Role?
This isn't a role where you'll be sitting behind the same desk dealing with the same issues every day.
You'll work across a variety of clients, technologies and environments, giving you the opportunity to broaden your technical experience while developing your client-facing and project skills.
It's a role for someone who wants to be trusted to get things done, rather than simply waiting for the next ticket to arrive.
If you're an experienced IT Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer or Field Engineer looking for a more varied, client-facing position with genuine responsibility, we'd be keen to hear from you.
