Primary HLTA - Gateshead (Full-Time)

Protocol Education is recruiting experienced HLTAs to work within friendly and supportive primary schools across Gateshead.

This role would suit a confident Teaching Assistant who enjoys taking the lead, supporting teachers and helping pupils achieve their learning goals. You'll have the opportunity to work across different year groups and make a real contribution to the wider school community.

Role Details
  • Full-time, Monday-Friday
  • September 2026 start
  • Term-time only
  • Hours between 8:30am-3:30pm and 8:30am-4:30pm
  • Long-term placements available
  • Permanent opportunities may be available
Your day-to-day responsibilities
  • Covering classes and delivering planned lessons
  • Leading targeted interventions in phonics, maths and English
  • Supporting pupils with SEND
  • Providing constructive feedback on pupil progress
  • Maintaining positive classroom behaviour
  • Supporting teaching and learning across EYFS, KS1 and KS2
  • Adapting your approach to meet different learners' needs
The ideal candidate
  • Has HLTA status or significant equivalent experience
  • Has previous experience working within a primary classroom
  • Can confidently lead a class when required
  • Demonstrates strong behaviour management
  • Is adaptable and able to work across different year groups
  • Is enthusiastic about helping pupils succeed

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
