Job Description

Futures Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced Electrical Switchgear Engineer to join a growing engineering team working on the design, manufacture, installation and support of LV/MV switchgear solutions.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong electrical background who understands switchgear systems and enjoys solving technical problems in a practical, fast-paced environment.

As an Electrical Switchgear Engineer, you ll be responsible for supporting switchgear projects from initial technical requirements through to manufacture, testing, installation and commissioning.

  • Reviewing technical specifications, drawings and customer requirements
  • Supporting the design and engineering of LV/MV switchgear and electrical distribution systems
  • Producing and reviewing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation
  • Selecting appropriate components, protection devices and switchgear equipment
  • Providing technical support to manufacturing and assembly teams
  • Carrying out or supporting FAT, testing and commissioning
  • Troubleshooting electrical and switchgear-related faults
  • Working closely with project managers, customers, suppliers and site teams
  • Ensuring designs and installations comply with relevant electrical standards and safety requirements

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience working with switchgear, control panels or electrical distribution equipment
  • A strong understanding of LV and/or MV electrical systems
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical drawings and schematics
  • Knowledge of protection, control and distribution equipment
  • A relevant electrical/electronic engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively across engineering, production and project teams
