Job Description

Responsibilities
  • Performing the SMF17 (Money Laundering Reporting Officer/MLRO) function under the Senior Managers & Certification Regime.
  • Act as the firm's Nominated Officer under the Money Laundering Regulations.
  • Maintain compliance with FCA Handbook (SYSC, SUP, DEPP), Money Laundering Regulations, Proceeds of Crime Act, and Terrorism Act along with the UK Sanctions regime.
  • Managing compliance oversight of key Financial Crime Frameworks and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and firm's risk profile.
  • Providing regular MLRO reports to the Board and relevant governance committees.
  • Owning and periodically refreshing the firm's Financial Crime Risk Assessment.
  • Oversee the AML Monitoring Program, internal and external audits, FCA remediation actions, and regulatory inspections.
  • Assist with the onboarding of new clients through rigorous KYC verification process.
  • Advise on high-risk customers, PEPs, and complex ownership structures.
  • Act as the firm's Nominated Officer for Suspicious Activity Reporting.
Requirements
  • 10 plus years of strong regulatory judgement and a risk-based approach to decision-making
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience leading compliance and financial crime teams
  • AML technology and transaction monitoring systems proficiency
  • Experience with FCA, NCA, OFSI and external auditors
  • Strong knowledge of UK AML, sanctions, payment services and financial crime regulations
  • Experience overseeing transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, KYC, EDD and SAR investigations
  • Experience leading regulatory inspections and remediation program
  • Proven people leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Eligible to perform the SMF17 function, subject to FCA approval.
