Job Description
Meta is seeking an experienced attorney to join its International Data Legal team, providing strategic legal counsel on complex cross-border data protection, privacy, and regulatory compliance matters that underpin Meta's global products and services. In this role, you will serve as a subject matter authority on evolving privacy regulations across multiple jurisdictions, including Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey (AMET). You will partner closely with product, policy, engineering, and compliance teams to shape how Meta navigates the global regulatory landscape, ensuring that data practices across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Meta AI products are legally sound and strategically aligned.
Meta requires all employed attorneys to have a law degree or equivalent certificate to permit the practice of law and be appropriately licensed and authorized to practice law for the company in their assigned work location. Unless prohibited under local law, an attorney must hold a current practicing certificate (including where required from the relevant authority in the jurisdiction of the assigned work location) or the local law equivalent bar registration or license as may be applicable.
Requirements- 8+ years of experience practicing data protection, privacy, or technology law, with a focus on international regulatory frameworks
- Experience independently managing complex, multi-jurisdictional legal matters and driving legal strategy across cross-functional teams
- Experience communicating legal risk and strategic recommendations to executive leadership and non-legal stakeholders in written and verbal formats
- Active bar membership or equivalent legal qualification in a relevant jurisdiction
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
- Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
- Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies

- Track record of building or scaling international data legal programs, including policy development and governance frameworks
- Familiarity with data protection and privacy regulatory developments across Africa, Middle East, or Turkey
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
- Experience working directly with data protection authorities or in-house at a global technology company on international data compliance programs
- Experience advising on privacy implications of AI and machine learning products in a cross-border regulatory context
- Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
