Secondary QTS Tutor - Chester-Le-Street

Prospero Teaching are seeking dedicated QTS Tutors, or Teachers with Qualified Teacher Status, to support disengaged students in the Chester-le-Street area. These young people are not currently accessing mainstream education due to SEND, SEMH, permanent exclusion, and various other barriers.
We are looking for Specialist QTS Tutors to work with Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, covering Maths, English, and Functional Skills. You will provide a safe, encouraging, and empowering learning environment that helps young people rebuild confidence and re-engage with their education.
Contract/Position Details:
Location - Chester-Le-Street
Position - SEND Specialist Tutor
Type of work - Contract
Start date - ASAP
Setting - either within the student's home or in the community (learning hub/library)
Duration - Until the pupil is able to find a suitable school placement
Contract type - Temporary
Full-time/part-time availability, ranging from 6-15hours p/w per student
Rate of pay - up to 30 per hour (negotiable)
Your role with us:
Support students with SEND through individual and small group sessions, developing self-confidence, independence, practical life skills, community awareness, and basic food preparation.
Plan and deliver bespoke learning activities that meet individual needs and close gaps in learning.
Assess and review learner progress on an ongoing basis, sharing clear and constructive feedback with students and their families.
Establish a calm, positive, and inclusive learning space that encourages engagement and restores confidence in education.
Record daily attendance accurately and complete structured weekly reports in line with requirements.
Experience, Training and Qualifications of the SEND Specialist Tutor:
Children related/Education qualification
Possess UK classroom teaching experience
Be creative, patient and willing to think outside of the box
Have experience working with students with SEND including ASD, ADHD, GLD and challenging behaviours
To be eligible for this role, the potential SEND Specialist Tutor must:
Hold the right to work in the UK
Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
Be able to reference the last two years of education/employment
