Our client, a well known manufacturing business is currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a well-established manufacturing business. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically minded individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment, carrying out maintenance, repairs, installations, and continuous improvement activities to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
The successful candidate will have a strong mechanical maintenance background within manufacturing, production, or industrial environments and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a maintenance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on manufacturing machinery and production equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimise production downtime.
- Strip, repair, overhaul, and rebuild mechanical components including gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, bearings, and motors.
- Install, align, and commission new machinery and equipment.
- Conduct reactive maintenance in response to equipment breakdowns.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and schematics.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety procedures.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Work closely with production teams to maintain operational performance.
- Complete maintenance documentation accurately using maintenance management systems where applicable.
- Assist with shutdowns, machine upgrades, and project work as required.
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Fitter, Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, or similar role.
- Background working within manufacturing, production, FMCG, heavy industry, food manufacturing, automotive, packaging, or industrial environments.
- Experience carrying out both preventative and reactive maintenance.
- Ability to fault-find and diagnose mechanical issues efficiently.
- Competent in using workshop tools and precision measuring equipment.
- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
