This is a substantive consultant child & adolescent psychiatrist post that has been created by converting a fixed term post into a permanent position. The role provides clinical leadership and consultant psychiatry expertise in the Neurodevelopmental Pathway (NDP) in Lambeth CAMHS, specifically focused on the ADHD pathway within the service. It offers a unique opportunity to join an established and dynamic team of five consultant psychiatrists within South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
As a newly envisioned post advertised alongside our longstanding NDP consultant psychiatry position, this role adds a second neurodevelopmentally focused consultant psychiatry post to the service. It increases neurodevelopmental expertise and capacity, and fosters an innovative environment. The post-holder will work closely with the Band 8A prescribing nurse specialist in ADHD, and with the Band 8B NDP lead, an experienced psychologist. Operationally the postholder will be based between the ADHD medication clinic and the River Team (higher complexity CAMHS) for children and young people up to the age of 18 years. Embedded NDP clinicians also support other teams within the service.
There are six consultant child and adolescent psychiatry posts in Lambeth CAMHS (a total of 5.5 WTE), providing local opportunities for significant peer support and consultation. We have specialist interests in early intervention, GP consultation, ADHD, at risk populations and crisis care.
The successful applicant will also join the SLaM consultant CAMHS on call rota.

1) Assessment and management of children and young people, and to provide psychiatric input for both routine and emergency clinical care.
2) Manage clinical caseload, ensuring timely outcome, referrals, transitions and discharges. Provide caseload data/action key caseload management targets as required.
3) Provide strong clinical leadership and vision for the ADHD pathway and LARC medication clinic in collaboration with the ADHD Pathway Lead.
4) Supervise non consultant medical staff; the postholder should be an accredited clinical supervisor or become one if not already.
5) Attend and chair clinical meetings and external meetings such as LARC clinic meetings and local service development meetings.
6) Liaise and communicate with the MDT, other professionals, teams and agencies.
7) Provide consultation and advice to other CAMHS teams.
8) Participate in peer and group supervision meetings.
9) Participate in training of medical students, psychiatric residents and multidisciplinary staff.
10) Adhere to the agreed job plan and appraisal procedures set by the Trust.
11) Maintain GMC registration, a licence to practise and participate in CPD to remain in good standing with the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
12) Maintain Section 12 and Approved Clinician approval; if not already approved, achieve within three months.
13) Provide cover for colleagues as required.
14) Attend monthly Senior Management Team meetings as scheduled and fulfil SMT membership roles and responsibilities as a clinical leader.
