Year 6 Teaching Assistant

Location: Trafford
Position: Teaching Assistant - Year 6 Class
Contract: Part Time, AM's Only (8.30am to 1.15pm) Initially for the Autumn Term.
Start Date: September 2026
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

We are looking to recruit an experienced and dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a Year 6 class for a large and welcoming primary school in Trafford.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive team and play a key role in helping pupils achieve their full potential during this important stage of their primary education.The successful candidate will have previous experience working within Year 6, with a strong understanding of the KS2 curriculum, SATs preparation, and the delivery of targeted interventions to support pupil progress.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
• Work with individual pupils and small groups to raise attainment in English and Mathematics.
• Deliver targeted intervention programmes to support pupils working below age-related expectations.
• Assist with the preparation of learning resources and classroom activities.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers.
• Support pupils with varying learning needs to ensure they can access the curriculum.
• Contribute positively to pupil wellbeing, behaviour, and engagement.
• Assist with SATs preparation and revision activities.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a Year 6 classroom.
• Experience delivering small group and 1:1 interventions in English and Mathematics.
• Good understanding of the Key Stage 2 curriculum.
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
• A proactive, flexible, and supportive approach.
• Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2, Level 3 or equivalent).
• Experience supporting pupils preparing for KS2 SATs.
• Experience working with pupils with additional learning needs.
