Tax Assistant Gillingham, Dorset Full Time (37.5 hours, part-time considered) Office Based £27,000 £33,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications

Our client is a firm of Chartered Accountants and Registered Auditors with offices in Gillingham and Sturminster Newton, Dorset. They are an independent, forward-thinking firm that continues to build on its traditional roots and strong reputation.

They are seeking a Tax Assistant to join their largest office in Gillingham, supporting an experienced Tax Director and two Tax Managers in delivering an exceptional service to a varied client base.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with UK personal tax experience who is looking to further develop their career in a collaborative environment. Whether you're part ATT-qualified, AAT-qualified with tax experience, or have gained practical experience in personal tax compliance, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role

As a Tax Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the tax team by preparing and completing a range of tax compliance work. You'll also build relationships with clients and act as a point of contact, while liaising with HMRC when required.

Key responsibilities:

Preparing personal, sole trader, partnership Self-Assessment and Capital Gains Tax (CGT) returns

Assisting the Tax Director and Tax Managers with personal tax compliance work

Acting as a first point of contact for clients, responding to queries professionally

Liaising with HMRC on behalf of clients where required

Ensuring deadlines are met and records are maintained accurately

Supporting the wider tax team with a range of compliance-related duties

What Were Looking For

Must have at least 1 years experience working within UK personal tax compliance

ATT qualification (full or part-qualified), or relevant practical tax experience

AAT-qualified or part-qualified candidates with tax experience are also encouraged to apply

Excellent communication and organisational skills

A proactive attitude with strong attention to detail

The ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines
