Fundraising Coordinator

As part of Dorset County Hospital Charity, you will support the delivery of the Charity's fundraising strategy, implement diverse income streams, and manage donor stewardship.

Responsibilities
  • Help implement the Charity's fundraising plan across individual giving, community fundraising, challenge events, staff fundraising, legacy and corporate giving.
  • Work toward agreed financial targets to maximise fundraising income.
  • Develop and deliver community fundraising stewardship programmes.
  • Promote challenge fundraising opportunities and manage stewardship processes.
  • Encourage and support fundraising by staff and volunteers, providing guidance and ensuring timely collection and payment of funds.
  • Identify and develop new income sources for the Charity.
  • Recruit, support and retain volunteer fundraising groups and encourage volunteer led activities.
  • Ensure safe collection, transportation and depositing of donations.
  • Develop a pipeline and portfolio of supporters and provide a positive, engagement focused experience.
  • Arrange cheque presentations and photo calls with donors/fundraisers.
  • Update supporter database in compliance with GDPR.
  • Develop and maintain a highly respected profile as a fundraiser in DCH and the wider community.
  • Represent the Charity at external events, give talks and presentations to raise its profile.
  • Increase the Charity's profile by recognising achievements of community fundraisers and demonstrating the impact of charitable spending.
  • Raise awareness of events, fundraising appeals and contribute to the financial targets.
  • Work with the Communications Officer to provide motivating content for digital platforms.
  • Design and deliver social media posts to increase awareness and support.
  • Implement internal communications programmes to engage staff.
  • Support Charity Champions on wards and departments.
  • Promote charitable funding opportunities to staff and ensure impact is promoted widely.
  • Contribute to reports on fundraising and communications activity for the Charity Committee.
  • Follow cash handling, banking, donor acknowledgement procedures and advise staff and volunteers.
  • Ensure all activity meets legal and ethical standards, including the Fundraising Regulator's Code of Practice and GDPR.
  • Adhere to finance policies and procedures and implement changes as required.
  • Build relationships with other NHS charities and potential donor bodies.
  • Work independently to achieve set targets and objectives.
  • Support and supervise volunteer fundraisers, providing guidance on policy.
  • Keep abreast of charity law and developments, undertake training, and participate in ongoing professional development.
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures and best practices, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Respect customs, values and beliefs of supporters, staff, patients, carers and families.
  • Increase income by facilitating the Charity's fundraising plans for new sources.
Qualifications
  • Fundraising experience or transferable skills.
  • Energy, enthusiasm and excellent relationship building skills.
  • Self motivated, creative and able to deliver results.
  • Confident working independently and as part of a team.
  • Level 4 vocational qualification or equivalent experience.
  • UK driving licence.
  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising (optional).
  • Experience in fundraising, charity development, donor relations.
  • Understanding of fundraising principles, ethics and best practices (GDPR, Gift Aid, stewardship).
  • Experience managing campaigns, appeals or events to achieve income targets.
  • Knowledge of corporate partnerships and community fundraising.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and donor databases.
  • Experience producing social media content.
  • IT skills: Microsoft Office, CRM, website content management, Canva.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confident public speaking ability.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Creative thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Resilient, proactive and motivated by achieving targets.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office and design tools such as Canva.
  • Experience working in NHS, healthcare or related charity.
