Junior Document Controller
- Location: Colchester
- Job Type: Full-time Temporary (minimum 4 weeks)
- Pay Rate: £12.82 per hour
Join our team as a Junior Document Controller and support the effective control and administration of project and technical documentation in line with our Quality Management System (QMS) and project requirements. This role offers a fantastic development opportunity within a regulated, project-driven engineering environment, allowing you to build strong foundations in document control and quality processes.
Day-to-day of the role:
Document Administration
- Support the implementation and daily operation of document control procedures for projects.
- Upload, track, update, and maintain documentation in controlled document management systems.
- Ensure documentation is correctly indexed, version controlled, traceable, and retrievable.
- Maintain and update project document matrices under guidance from senior team members.
Project Support
- Assist Project Managers and internal teams by tracking documentation against project deliverables.
- Support the coordination of document exchanges between internal departments, suppliers, and customers.
- Monitor documentation progress and highlight late or missing documents.
- Assist in the preparation of documentation status and exception reports.
Quality Support & Learning
- Support the review of incoming documentation against project and quality requirements.
- Assist in resolving document-related non-conformances and corrective actions.
- Help with the consolidation of technical documentation packs for products leaving the factory.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities in document control workflows and systems.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in an administrative or coordination role, with a desire to develop in the document control area.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes.
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Clear and professional communication skills.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to learn QMS and project documentation requirements.
Desirable
- Experience working in an engineering, manufacturing, or project-based environment.
- Exposure to document management systems.
- Understanding of basic quality or compliance principles.
- Relevant qualification in administration, business, or quality (or working towards).
