Locations: Cardiff or Edinburgh

As Principal Enterprise Architect (Data), you'll play a leading role in shaping how trusted company data is designed, governed and reused at national scale, supporting services accessed by millions of users every day.

This is a senior technical leadership role where your decisions will directly influence:

  • How data is treated as a core enterprise asset
  • How legacy and modern systems work together
  • How trust, interoperability and reuse are built into data by design

What you'll be doing

As Principal Enterprise Architect (Data), you will:

  • Set the enterprise level direction for data architecture and strategy
  • Define and govern data models, standards and integration approaches
  • Design architectures that work across legacy systems, cloud platforms and third party services
  • Act as the authoritative voice on enterprise data, providing assurance and guidance across programmes and projects
  • Enable secure, trusted and reusable data across the organisation
  • Work closely with architects, delivery teams and senior stakeholders to reduce risk and improve data quality
  • Influence long term transformation while supporting immediate delivery needs

Your technical impact

You'll lead work across:

  • Enterprise and domain data modelling
  • Canonical data definitions and integration patterns
  • Data governance, quality, ownership and lifecycle management
  • APIs, distributed services and interoperability
  • Secure handling of personal and sensitive data
  • Alignment with legal, regulatory and policy requirements

You'll also provide specialist advice on:

  • Data migrations and legacy transformation
  • Platform and tooling decisions
  • Enterprise standards and architectural assurance

Who this role is for

This role would suit an experienced enterprise or senior data architect who:

  • Has worked in complex, large scale environments
  • Is confident setting direction and making architectural decisions
  • Can influence senior stakeholders and explain complexity clearly
  • Balances delivery needs with long term architectural vision

Experience with professional architecture qualifications and cloud data certifications is welcome.
