Working Shift: 4 on 4 off, 5.30 - 17.30
HGV Technician /HGV Mechanic -The Role
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced HGV Technician to join a well-established operation supporting ground support equipment within a fast-paced airport environment. This is a hands-on position suited to someone with strong mechanical expertise who takes pride in delivering high standards of maintenance and repair.
You will play a key role in keeping essential vehicles and equipment fully operational, ensuring reliability, safety, and efficiency across daily operations.
HGV Technician /HGV Mechanic -Key Responsibilities
- Carry out maintenance and repair of HGVs and associated equipment as directed.
- Perform inspections, brake testing, and diagnostics, identifying faults before work begins.
- Accurately diagnose issues and communicate repair requirements, including parts needed.
- Complete all job cards, inspection sheets, and documentation to a high standard.
- Record parts usage and ensure correct handling and storage of components.
- Work closely with supervisors and team members to maintain workflow efficiency.
- Identify and isolate defective tools or equipment, ensuring they are reported and removed from use.
HGV Technician /HGV Mechanic-Performance Expectations
- Deliver consistent, high-quality workmanship.
- Maintain accurate and timely records across all tasks.
- Effectively utilise time recording systems.
- Demonstrate reliability and adherence to operational procedures.
Health & Safety
- Follow all health and safety policies and safe systems of work.
- Use PPE correctly at all times.
- Report hazards, incidents, and near misses promptly.
- Support a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with quality, environmental, and safety standards.
About You
- Qualified to Level 3 in Motor Mechanics (LGV or equivalent).
- Proven experience in HGV or commercial vehicle maintenance.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
- Comfortable working in a busy, operational environment.
- Good communication and organisational ability.
- Safety-conscious with a professional and reliable approach.
