The Role

This is a general classroom-based Teaching Assistant position, supporting teaching staff across a range of subjects and year groups to ensure high-quality learning experiences for all pupils. The role will include some additional support for pupils with mild or emerging SEND needs as part of inclusive classroom practice.

  • Supporting teachers in the delivery of high-quality lessons across the classroom
  • Working with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning and promote pupil progress
  • Assisting with classroom organisation, preparation of resources, and maintaining a positive learning environment
  • Encouraging pupil engagement, confidence, and independence in learning
  • Providing light support for pupils with additional needs, under the guidance of teaching and SEN staff
  • Supporting behaviour management strategies in line with school policy
  • Helping to monitor pupil progress and feeding back observations to teaching staff

Candidate Profile

Essential:

  • Experience working with children or young people in an educational setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to support learning effectively in a classroom environment
  • A proactive, positive, and flexible approach to supporting teaching and learning
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Able to commute to Potters Bar
