BirminghamUp to £20 per hour (DOE)39 hours per week (Early finish Fridays)PermanentWe are currently looking to expand our Calibration / Metrology team and are seeking an experienced Calibration Engineer to join a well-established and highly regarded precision engineering environment in Birmingham.This is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who takes pride in accuracy, consistency, and working to the highest standards within dimensional calibration.The RoleAs a Calibration Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out precise dimensional measurements and calibrations using a range of high-accuracy equipment. You will play a key role in ensuring all instruments meet required standards and specifications.You will be working with equipment capable of measuring to 0.001 mm (1 micron) and below, including:
  • Slip Gauges (Block Gauges)
  • Micrometers
  • Floating Carriage Micrometers (FCM)
  • Universal Length Measuring (ULM) instruments
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform calibration and measurement of precision instruments
  • Maintain accurate records in line with quality standards
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with calibration procedures
  • Identify and report any inconsistencies or non-conformances
  • Support continuous improvement within the calibration process
What We're Looking For
  • Proven experience in dimensional calibration or precision measurement
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and ability to work to tight tolerances
  • Experience with gear and spline calibration, manufacturing, or design (desirable)
  • Experience working within a UKAS-accredited laboratory (desirable)
