Senior Geoenvironmental Engineer Basingstoke, Hampshire £45,000 - £50,000

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Geoenvironmental Engineer to join a well-established and growing environmental and geotechnical consultancy in Basingstoke. This role offers the chance to work on a wide range of brownfield redevelopment and contaminated land projects across the UK, with clear progression into leadership.

The Role

As a Senior Geoenvironmental Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering technically robust and commercially aware solutions across a diverse project portfolio. You will be responsible for managing projects from initial site investigation through to remediation and verification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing and delivering geoenvironmental and contaminated land projects
  • Designing and overseeing ground investigations
  • Interpreting geotechnical and chemical data and producing factual and interpretive reports
  • Conducting Phase 1 Desk Studies and Phase 2 Site Investigations
  • Risk assessments (human health, groundwater, and gas)
  • Designing remediation strategies and verification reporting
  • Liaising with clients, regulators, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Mentoring junior engineers and supporting team development

Requirements

  • Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
  • 5+ years' experience in a geoenvironmental or contaminated land role
  • Strong knowledge of UK contaminated land legislation and guidance
  • Experience with risk assessment tools (e.g., CLEA)
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • Chartered status (or working towards) with a relevant body (e.g., ICE, CIWEM, or Geological Society)
  • Experience managing projects and client relationships
  • Knowledge of geotechnical principles
