JOB ROLE
Our client is seeking a highly qualified Real Estate Counsel with 7+ years of experience to join our New York office. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated attorney to take on a leading role in sophisticated real estate finance transactions within a collaborative and nationally recognized practice.
JOB DESCRIPTIONThe duties and responsibilities of the role will include:
- Transaction Leadership: Independently manage real estate financing transactions from initial structuring through closing, including timeline management, coordination of deal teams, and ensuring all milestones are met.
- Lender Representation: Act on behalf of institutional lenders, private equity funds, and other financial institutions in a wide range of commercial real estate finance transactions.
- Loan Documentation: Draft, review, and negotiate comprehensive loan documents, including credit agreements, mortgages, security agreements, guarantees, and intercreditor agreements.
- Due Diligence Oversight: Lead and conduct detailed title and survey review, identifying and resolving issues related to encumbrances, zoning, access, and other property-related risks.
- Deal Structuring: Collaborate with clients and internal teams to structure financing arrangements tailored to transaction-specific considerations, including multi-tiered or cross-collateralized deals.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with colleagues across practices (e.g., tax, corporate, environmental) as well as external stakeholders such as borrowers counsel, title companies, and surveyors.
- Client Communication: Maintain direct client contact, providing strategic guidance, timely updates, and practical solutions throughout the lifecycle of each transaction.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATEThe successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in real estate finance, preferably at a large law firm or comparable practice.
- Demonstrated experience representing lenders in complex commercial real estate transactions.
- Strong proficiency in drafting and negotiating loan and related transactional documents.
- Deep familiarity with title and survey review processes.
- Proven ability to independently manage multiple transactions simultaneously.
- Excellent academic credentials.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
