Year 1 Class Teacher - Primary School (Watford)

Start Date: September 2026

Are you an enthusiastic and nurturing teacher with a passion for early learning? We are looking for a committed Year 1 Class Teacher to join our friendly and inclusive primary school in Watford from September 2026.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to teach a vibrant and curious Year 1 class at a key stage in children's development as they transition from the Early Years Foundation Stage into Key Stage 1. The successful candidate will create a stimulating, engaging, and supportive learning environment where all children can thrive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver creative, high-quality lessons in line with the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum
  • Support pupils' transition from EYFS to Year 1, ensuring continuity in learning and development
  • Assess, track, and report on pupil progress
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and inspiring classroom environment
  • Work closely with colleagues, teaching assistants, and parents/carers
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school community
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of all pupils
The Ideal Candidate Will
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have experience or a strong interest in Key Stage 1 or Early Years
  • Understand the importance of play-based and structured learning approaches in Year 1
  • Be creative, patient, and adaptable
  • Have high expectations for all pupils
  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • Be committed to continuous professional development
