Hours: Monday to Friday varied shifts between 06:00 and 23:00 participation in the on call rota

We are seeking a dependable Data Centre Support Engineer to support a broad client base across secure environments. You'll work hands on with hardware cabling and monitoring tools to maintain resilient well managed data centre operations while ensuring all activity is accurately recorded and progressed within agreed service levels.

The role

You'll be involved in day to day installation, maintenance and remote hands tasks ensuring equipment is deployed correctly, faults are addressed promptly and environments remain safe, clean and compliant. You will work closely with internal teams, third party providers and visiting clients, often acting as their on site presence in the data centre. The role also includes participation in a 24/7/365 on call rota for out of hours activities.

Key responsibilities
  • Install, patch and decommission server, network and storage hardware ensuring accurate documentation and ticket updates.
  • Carry out copper and fibre cabling tasks and support fault diagnosis and resolution.
  • Complete routine operational checks across network firewall and system alerts.
  • Perform remote hands duties including component swaps, testing and power cycling.
  • Host and escort client visitors, providing a professional and controlled access experience.
  • Maintain adherence to ISO and ITIL standards and uphold data centre housekeeping.
Skills and experience

You'll bring technical competence suited to a busy data centre environment with the professionalism and reliability needed to represent clients on site. Specifically we're looking for:

  • Current and valid SC and NPPV3 clearance
  • Experience in a similar data centre or hands on infrastructure support role including hardware installation, cabling and basic fault resolution.
  • Ability to follow procedures accurately, maintain detailed records and work confidently within ISO aligned and ITIL based processes.
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with clients, third party providers and internal teams.
  • A calm, methodical approach under pressure, particularly when responding to incidents or out of hours activity.
  • Well organised, self motivated and capable of working independently within secure high integrity environments.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
