KS1 Teaching AssistantLocation: Rubery, B45Pay Rate: £500 - £525 per weekStart Date: ASAP Contract: Monday - Friday, long-term temp to perm.Long Term Futures are recruiting for a supportive and adaptable Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Rubery, Birmingham. This role will involve a balance of whole class support within a Year 1 setting, alongside providing dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil who is currently in the process of being assessed for additional needs. Alongside 1:1 support, you will also assist the class teacher with general classroom duties, supporting the wider group with activities such as phonics, early literacy and numeracyKey Responsibilities:

  • Provide general classroom support within a Key Stage 1 setting
  • Deliver dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with emerging SEN needs
  • Support early learning including phonics, literacy and numeracy
  • Help manage classroom routines and transitions
  • Use strategies to support attention, engagement and emotional regulation
  • Adapt tasks and activities to suit individual learning needs
  • Provide occasional PPA cover, leading the class in the absence of the teacher

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant experience
  • Experience working within Key Stage 1 or Early Years
  • Some experience or understanding of SEN (ASD, ADHD, or similar needs)
  • A patient, nurturing and flexible approach
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Experience supporting phonics
