Our client, a leading global logistics provider, is seeking an experienced Airfreight Manager to lead the design, optimisation, and performance of its international airfreight network. This is a high-impact role combining strategic network planning with hands-on operational and commercial responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimise global airfreight network strategy across key trade lanes
- Identify cost-effective routing and airline port pair solutions aligned with customer demand and service levels
- Manage airline relationships, including performance evaluation and preferred carrier programmes
- Negotiate and oversee BSA and capacity agreements, ensuring compliance and competitiveness
- Maximise capacity utilisation, including ULD management and load factor optimisation
- Make daily operational decisions on routing, carrier allocation, and margin protection
- Lead commercial negotiations to secure competitive rates and support profitability
- Provide market insights and cost intelligence to pricing and tender teams
Success Metrics
- Improved Net Achieved Rate (NAR) and cost per kilo
- High load factor utilisation across agreements
- Strong on-time performance and service consistency
- Effective airline performance tracking and reporting
Requirements
- Proven experience in airfreight leadership within logistics or freight forwarding
- Strong background in airline negotiation and BSA management
- In-depth knowledge of global trade lanes and cargo routing
- Commercially driven with strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Excellent stakeholder and relationship management capabilities
Desirable
- Established airline industry relationships
- Experience designing multi-country airfreight networks
- Exposure to express and general cargo operations
- Familiarity with cargo systems and yield optimisation tools
