Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Product Controller to join a highly respected financial institution in London, supporting the Treasury and Financial Markets business. This permanent position offers you the chance to play a pivotal role in providing independent oversight and control of financials, including profit and loss as well as balance sheet activities. You will be part of a collaborative team that values your expertise in fixed income, derivatives, and market risk.

What you'll do:

  • Ensure robust controls exist between Treasury operations, accounting systems, and risk management frameworks by regularly reviewing processes and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate flow of information between Treasury, Accounting, and Risk systems by documenting procedures and ensuring all data transfers are transparent and auditable.
  • Validate pricing independently for Treasury fixed income instruments and derivative positions using established methodologies to ensure fair value reporting.
  • Provide detailed analysis and commentary on Treasury and Financial Markets profit and loss statements with particular focus on risk-based explanations for all fair value instruments.
  • Monitor the relationship between the businesses cost of funds and internal fund transfer pricing mechanisms by conducting regular reviews and preparing insightful reports.
  • Actively participate in risk management exercises by escalating issues promptly to line management and ensuring all mandatory compliance training is completed on schedule.
  • Support business continuity planning by engaging in emergency response rehearsals such as evacuation drills or business continuity tests as required.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams including Product Control, Financial Control, Treasury/Financial Markets, Audit, and Technology to facilitate seamless execution of controls.
  • Deliver clear explanations of control outputs to both internal stakeholders and external auditors when required, providing additional analysis as necessary.
  • Contribute to the ongoing industrialisation of control requirements by working with technology teams to automate processes where possible.

What you bring:

  • Professional qualifications such as ACA/CIMA/ACCA/CFA are preferred but not mandatory; equivalent experience will also be considered favourably.
  • Demonstrated experience (minimum 3 years) in Fixed Income Product Control within a multicurrency environment encompassing valuation techniques and market risk control responsibilities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of fixed income products along with strong business analytics capabilities relevant to Treasury operations.
  • Proven expertise in FX (foreign exchange) derivatives, interest rate derivatives, money market products, as well as deep familiarity with market risk concepts.
  • Solid grasp of multi-currency general ledger mechanics enabling effective reconciliation across diverse financial systems.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge including practical application of IFRS9 Hedge Accounting standards within financial institution environments.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (including VBA), with basic knowledge of SQL or Python considered advantageous for process automation initiatives.
