Job Description

Finance Manager

  • Annual Salary: £45,000 - £55,000
  • Location: Ellesmere Port, Cheshire
  • Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

An established business is seeking an experienced and adaptable Finance Manager to oversee the day-to-day finance function while managing a small ledger team. This role also encompasses responsibility for payroll and a range of office and administrative duties, reporting directly to the Finance Director and Managing Director. This is a diverse and hands-on role, well-suited to someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership, and is comfortable balancing multiple priorities to meet the needs of the business.

Day-to-day of the role

Finance & Team Management:

  • Daily management of the finance department, including queries, shared mailboxes, and payment runs.
  • Line management of a small ledger team, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
  • Review and oversight of subcontractor payments.

Payroll:

  • Completion of weekly and monthly payrolls.
  • Management of payroll year-end processes including P35s, P14s, P60s, P11Ds, and Class 1A NICs.
  • Administration of the company pension scheme.

Financial & Statutory Duties:

  • Preparation of information for the company financial year-end.
  • Maintenance of company statutory books and completion of required returns.
  • Maintenance of management company accounts until handover.

Business & Compliance Support:

  • Implementation and review of company policies and procedures.
  • Monitoring and administration of company insurance claims and reporting.
  • Review of sales contracts and sign-off where required.

General:

  • Processing and monitoring of company transactions.
  • Carrying out various ad hoc duties as required by the Group Finance Director and Managing Director.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a Finance Manager or senior finance role.
  • Experience managing or supervising a small finance or ledger team.
  • Strong payroll knowledge, including year-end processes.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on, office-based environment.
  • Qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience considered.

  • Salary of £45,000+ depending on experience.
  • 38-hour working week - Could be condensed into 4 days for the right candidate
