Trainee Grinding Operative

Position: Trainee Grinding Operator

Location: Stoke on Trent, ST4 area

Full time- Hours of Work:
7.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. (Monday to Thursday)
7.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. (Friday)

Rate of pay starting at: 13.68 per hour, increasing once trained, then fully trained.

A vacancy has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated person to embark on a training programme to become a Grinding Operator with our established manufacturing client.

The purpose of the role is to set-up, adjust and operate a series of semi-automatic and manually operated grinding machines to produce a variety of tapered or spherical socket and cone joints. You will also be responsible for manual grind flat flanges and stopcock jets, plus other trimming and cutting tasks.

Responsibilities and requirements-

• Ability to carry out a variety of work tasks of moderate complexity to a high level of productivity and quality
• Responsible for the setting up and operating of water saw equipment
• Analyse and solve related problems; typically in the correct setting of numerous parameters regarding 6-head grinding machines and Spherical grinder.
• Ability to work from operating instructions, dimensional tolerances and frequent usage of gauges, making simple adjustments to the production process where necessary.
• Possess excellent attention to detail, monitoring various machines at once
• Competently liaise with colleagues and senior management to meet targets, raise issues and resolve problems where needed
