  • Our client is embarking on a major network modernisation programme across multiple critical sites and is looking for an experienced Senior Cisco Network Engineer to play a key role in delivering high-impact infrastructure change.
  • This is a delivery-focused contract role suited to hands-on Cisco specialist Network Engineers who enjoy ownership, technical depth, and working on meaningful, business-critical projects.

Description

As the Cisco Network Engineer, you will be instrumental in a large-scale refresh of core switching, firewall infrastructure, identity services, and network inventory governance. This is not a support role - it's a hands-on engineering position where you will design, build, migrate and deliver real transformation.

Day-to-day you will:

  • Lead Major Core Upgrades - Take ownership of Cisco core switch replacements, including Catalyst 9600 deployments, across critical enterprise sites.
  • Deliver High-Impact Security Projects - Execute firewall upgrades, new deployments, and FMC implementations within live production environments.
  • Drive Cisco ISE Implementation - Design and roll out enterprise LAN authentication solutions with full policy integration and handover.
  • Work on a Structured Transformation Programme - Contribute to a clear pipeline of core, edge, security, and inventory modernisation projects.
  • Operate in a Complex, Business-Critical Environment - Apply high-level Layer 3 expertise while delivering change with minimal disruption.
  • Hands-On, Delivery-Focused Contract Role - Ideal for senior engineers who enjoy ownership, technical depth, and measurable outcomes. The role will be 5 days per week on-site, dedicated to 1 of 3 sites in the South Wales region, all easily commutable from Cardiff.

Profile

As the successful candidate for the Cisco Network Engineer position, you should have:

  • Proven experience delivering Cisco core switch deployments (design through migration)
  • Strong Layer 3 routing expertise within enterprise environments
  • Deep knowledge of Cisco firewall platforms (deployment & upgrade lifecycle)
  • Practical experience with Cisco FMC
  • Demonstrable Cisco ISE design and deployment capability
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation and change control experience
  • Ability to operate confidently in high-availability, business-critical environments

Job Offer

  • Day rate of 450 - 550
  • Inside IR35
  • 6 Month Contract (Likely Extension)
