Electrical Technician

Location: Coventry

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to join a dynamic maintenance team. This role is critical in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality electrical services across a diverse estate. You will be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance, fault diagnostics, repairs, and minor installation works on a wide range of electrical and mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to maintenance requests and emergency situations, ensuring timely and safe resolution.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and statutory compliance tasks, including:
    • Periodic Inspection & Testing
    • Emergency Lighting Testing
    • Fire Alarm Testing
    • Portable Appliance Testing
  • Diagnose faults and determine appropriate solutions, escalating where necessary.
  • Assist with installation and refurbishment projects, including minor power systems.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Maintain accurate records, timesheets, and service documentation.
  • Liaise with colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders to minimize disruption and deliver excellent customer service.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Recognized apprenticeship or equivalent experience in electrical building services (commercial, industrial, domestic).
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations or Maintenance.
  • City & Guilds qualifications including:
    • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671)
    • Inspection & Testing of Electrical Installations
  • Strong understanding of statutory compliance and Health & Safety.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and meet SLAs.
  • Full, clean UK or EU driving license.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of fire alarm systems (BS 5839).
  • Experience with LV/HV systems.
  • Awareness of confined space entry and asbestos safety.
  • Understanding of mechanical building systems.
