Financial Controller

Our client, a successful SME in East Lancashire, is looking to hire a hands-on, dynamic Financial Controller. This is a very broad role and will sit as part of the Senior Leadership Team. Reporting to the Managing Director, with a dotted line to the Group CFO, the ideal candidate will be ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified, with experience in Group reporting. The role requires candidates to live within the Bolton, Bury, Preston, Blackburn, or Chorley area.

This would be an ideal step up for an ambitious Finance Manager or someone already operating as Financial Controller.

Salary: £55,000-£65,000
Full time on site initially

Responsibilities:

1. Overseeing the day-to-day finance function, including transactional finance and payroll.
2. Producing monthly management accounts to Group within strict deadlines, including P&L and balance sheet.
3. Producing all balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis.
4. Production of budgets, 12-week cash flow forecasting, and cash management, reporting weekly cash flow forecast to Group. Managing short-term cash requirements via working capital management & cash flow forecasting.
5. Producing insightful Management Information, including detailed financial analysis and KPIs to support decision making and strategy.
6. Financial responsibility for overseas business, including liaising with auditors.
7. Supporting the Senior Leadership Team with finance and board-level decision making.
8. Producing internal monthly reporting packs and challenging performance where necessary.
9. Acting as the financial lead for any company or Group projects that arise.
10. Producing all statutory returns including VAT, PAYE and ONS.
11. Overseeing commercial contracts, FX purchasing, and stock checks, and supporting with financial management of stock holding and recovery.
12. Ensuring a robust control environment to comply with SOX requirements and control testing.

Requirements:

1. ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified.
2. Experience with reporting to a Group within an international scope is an advantage.
3. Proven experience as a Finance Manager or similar financial leadership role within a manufacturing industry for both small & large sized businesses.
4. Knowledge of Sage 50/200 accounting packages essential.
5. MS Dynamics, SAP, or Oracle experience would be beneficial.
