Role Purpose
This position will playing a leading role in our political risk consulting, due diligence, government affairs and strategic advisory services in Ukraine, working closely with our established team in Kyiv and other senior stakeholders at Control Risks. The position will be permanently based in Kyiv, though the candidate will be based initially in London, Berlin, or Frankfurt, with the aim of relocating to Kyiv.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Analysis and understanding of Ukrainian politics and economics
This role will play a leading role in our monitoring and analysis for clients of Ukraine's domestic politics, economics, and security; Ukraine's foreign policy and the geopolitics around the country; and the evolution of Ukraine's political economy, regulatory environment, and the roles of different institutions and decision makers. The candidate will seek to continuously improve the depth and relevance of our analysis for clients from a range of different industries.
Research and investigative capabilities
This role will play a leading role in the continuous improvement of our research and investigative capabilities for clients in Ukraine, including the availability and integrity of public records; the accuracy and value of different media outlets; and the appropriate use of networks of contacts and discreet enquiries in and outside the country.
These research techniques will complement the analysis of the country's politics and economics to allow us to better advise clients on reputational due diligence best practices (including on financial crime and ESG factors); the decision-making processes of the Ukrainian government and external parties, particularly linked to reconstruction efforts; and other longer-term research and strategy projects mandated by our clients.
Government affairs and strategic advisory
This role will support our clients with analysis of Ukraine's decision-making processes on economic policy, trade and investment, and reconstruction, with a view to advising our clients on how best to engage with the Ukrainian public and private sectors.
Business development
This role will work with other senior stakeholders at Control Risks to best position the company to advise our clients about their strategy and risk management in Ukraine, including through attending events and conferences; publishing thought leadership and engaging with the media; and actively engaging with organisations with interests in Ukraine about their priorities and requirements.
Risk and compliance
This role will work with other senior stakeholders at Control Risks to manage various risk and compliance issues affecting Control Risks and our clients in Ukraine, including our regulatory obligations in Ukraine and other countries; and the security of our colleagues and clients.
