Job Description

  • Lead in the delivery of all academy sports science support across all teams (U9-18), in line with the club's sports science philosophy.
  • Line Manage Part time and intern S&C coaching staff to deliver & support the Academy S&C programme across all phases.
  • Ensuring athletic development sessions for all ages groups are specific and individualised where possible.
  • Record and analyse all scientific data collated from the athletes within the programme.
    • Data Analysis (GPS / Workload monitoring)
    • Medical and Physical Screening
    • Anthropometric Assessments (Body mass body fat)
    • Growth and maturation for all age groups
  • Report and Record all sports science syllabus and player data on PMA to MDT in line with the club/EPP guidelines.
  • Develop and assist in all physical testing procedures with academy age groups ensuring data is recorded and interpreted.
  • Produce/deliver gym and field-based conditioning programmes tailored for differing needs of each age group/player within the squad.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team - Coaching, Medical, Sports Science, Education to continually instil a performance culture which encourages core values and the "E10 approach".
  • To work effectively within the department and along with EPPP guidelines.
  • Attend all relevant FP/YDP physical preparation sessions and games.
  • To integrate with all academy department staff to deliver a holistic physical development programme for all players.
  • Undertake enhancement of specific personal Qualifications and CPD training as provided by the Club and regulatory bodies.
  • Communicate sports science/strength and conditioning schedule to all coaching staff.
  • Report to any appropriate training session age group least 15 minutes prior to the commencement of the coaching session or 1 hour before the game. Be punctual always.
  • Be available to parents to discuss their child's physical progress and encourage them to approach other full-time staff for feedback
  • 40 Hours per week which will include being:
  • Required to work mobile.
  • Required to work outside of normal hours, at least one evening, at weekends, on bank holidays and public holidays.
About The Candidate
  • BSc in Sports and Exercise Science
  • MSc In relevant field
  • Experience working in Full time academy football.
  • FA EFAiF Qualification
  • Valid enhanced DBS Check
  • Full Uk Driving Lincense
  • Experience of using data management systems (GPS, VALD)
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively with players and staff at all levels, with absolute discretion.
  • A strong and confident decision maker
  • Able to adapt to the demands of the job and needs of the academy players and staff.
  • Committed, enthusiastic and passionate about the athletic development of academy football players.
  • Dedicated to self-improvement and continuous professional development.

    Desirable

  • MSc In relevant field
  • Desirable to have experience of a departmental leadership role within elite sport.
  • Valid FA Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football (ITMMIF)
