What we're looking for; A time-served Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Fitter or Mechanical Maintenance Technician, qualified to NVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent. Strong hands-on mechanical maintenance experience within a production, manufacturing, processing, waste, recycling, aggregates, quarrying, cement or similar heavy industrial environment. Essential experience maintaining and repairing conveyor systems, including rubber conveyor belts or rubber-lined conveyors. Practical experience of conveyor components including rollers, idlers, pulleys, drums, bearings, gearboxes, motors, drive systems, chains, sprockets, chutes and scrapers. Experience completing both planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs in a fast-paced operational environment. Mechanical fault-finding experience across rotating equipment, belt drives, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Knowledge of safe working practices, including permit-to-work systems, isolation/LOTO procedures and risk assessments. Mobile Plant Technician / Plant Fitter / Heavy Plant Engineer Location: Manchester - UK-wide Mobile Role Salary: £50,000 per year Hours: 44 hours per week Job Type: Full Time Permanent The Role We are looking for an experienced Mobile Plant Technician, Plant Fitter, Heavy Plant Engineer or Diesel Mechanic to join a busy construction business based in Manchester. You will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing and repair of a company-owned fleet of construction plant and vehicles, including excavators, dumpers, rollers and small plant. The business operates across multiple sites throughout the UK, so this is a mobile role involving regular travel, with occasional overnight stays required depending on site location. A fully equipped maintenance vehicle will be provided, allowing you to carry out repairs and servicing directly on-site.
