Mobile Plant Technician / Plant Fitter / Heavy Plant Engineer

The Role
We are looking for an experienced Mobile Plant Technician, Plant Fitter, Heavy Plant Engineer or Diesel Mechanic to join a busy construction business based in Manchester.
You will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing and repair of a company-owned fleet of construction plant and vehicles, including excavators, dumpers, rollers and small plant.
The business operates across multiple sites throughout the UK, so this is a mobile role involving regular travel, with occasional overnight stays required depending on site location.
A fully equipped maintenance vehicle will be provided, allowing you to carry out repairs and servicing directly on-site.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain and repair construction plant and machinery
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
- Maintain excavators, dumpers, rollers and small plant
- Carry out preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing
- Attend sites across the UK for repairs and breakdowns
- Organise periodic servicing of plant and vehicles
- Arrange LGV servicing and MOTs
- Maintain accurate plant inspection records and test certificates
- Complete damage reports and identify repair requirements
- Source parts and develop relationships with suppliers
- Arrange plant hire and off-hire requirements
- Source machinery when required
- Organise site welfare units, fencing and associated equipment
- Ensure all plant and vehicles remain safe, compliant and operational
About You

You should have strong mechanical experience and be confident working independently on diesel-powered machinery.
Experience with excavators, dumpers, rollers, hydraulics, diesel engines and small plant would be highly advantageous.
You must be comfortable travelling from Manchester to sites across the UK and staying away overnight when required.
