About this client/child: Howie 8 is an active, funny, witty, and energetic young chap with a great, and sometimes, cheeky sense of humour! He loves to ride his bike, play football, swim, climb, draw and he especially loves to make jokes and play with his friends. Howie has Cerebral Palsy that affects his right-hand side (weakness and tremors), anxiety, and he can present with behaviours that challenge when overwhelmed or fatigued. He struggles with self-regulation. Howie is very aware of his abilities and wants to be just like his friends and peers, this causes him to mask throughout the school day and as a result, he is extremely fatigued when he comes home, and this is when he struggles the most with his behaviours. Howie is at the center of a loving and supportive family; he has 3 older siblings all in their teens, this is a busy family home.

Overview of role: The SEN Nanny/Manny will support Howie with his communication and social skills, self-regulation, self-help and independence skills, his rehabilitation therapy plan and behavioural management. The SEN Nanny/Manny will bring skills and techniques to help manage triggers and de-escalate behaviours. When settled into the role and once a bond is built with Howie, the SEN Nanny/ Manny will establish an effective after-school routine that will include school picks up and extracurricular activities (driver essential). Howie is an extremely capable young chap; however, he requires prompts to complete some tasks, such as personal care. You'll be comfortable assisting Mum with light household duties, working in a busy house and pitching in as and when needed to keep family life smoothly ticking over! Additional hours are available during school holidays, and Mum would like the SEN Nanny/Manny to travel with them abroad.

Who this job would suit: A creative, energetic, active, and robust SEN Nanny/Manny with excellent experience with behaviours that can challenge. The ideal candidate will need a great sense of humour to keep up with Howie and really enjoy having fun and not be afraid to be silly or take themselves too seriously. This is a house full of laughs and jokes!

What's great about this job: A role that you can really make your own and you will have the opportunity to implement new routines and strategies that will really benefit Howie and his future. There is excellent support in this position with ongoing opportunities to learn new skills, such as SLT and physiotherapy. Howie is such a pleasure to work with and his family are very welcoming and friendly.
