Role Overview:

You will join the Data Engineering Team to lead and participate on a wide range of initiatives to transform the data and information landscape at Bupa. You will be using a SQL Server platform, and interacting with a wide range of source databases, data interface toolsets and providing data to multiple reporting platforms. You will also begin to sculpt the raw Business data into reportable, actionable information for our customers and provide senior technical leadership including being conversant with the future direction of systems, how that direction will impact the company, and how future and current systems can be leveraged for the benefit of the company

What you'll do:

You will be responsible for designing T-SQL/SSIS/Azure Data Factory routines that adhere to an Enterprise data & information architecture and facilitating data marts from scratch along the entire data chain: implementing ETL/ELT best practices, data modelling where appropriate, error-handling, automated MDM procedures, data to hardware optimisation and more. You will take ownership for resolving all data and information queries through to the source for our Customers. You will assess organisational opportunities to integrate new and existing company systems into the EDP as part of a long-term strategic roadmap and short-term tactical solutions and be needed to enforce departmental operation procedures, applicable security practices, production policies and support needs to ensure that the quality of service provided meets customer requirements. You will also be required to evaluate and recommend state-of-the-art development tools for use within the development ecosystem to achieve the most cost-effective, maximum-value solutions

What you'll bring:

Comprehensive enterprise data warehouse (EDW) analysis and design experience
Proven experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2014 or later including developing stored procedure based ETL/ELT, enterprise class SSIS, and proficiency with SSDT
Strong understanding of relational database structures, principles and practices
Experience with business requirements analysis, entity relationship planning, database design (both 3NF & Dimensional), reporting structures, etc.
Thorough and up to date understanding of IT development approaches, tools and techniques
Excellent client/user interaction skills to determine requirements, strong communication skills with experience developing and maintaining technical documentation, process documentation
Significant technical experience with the MS BI technology stack
Proven experience in providing CDC and MDM solutions with SQL server
Proven experience with building and deploying SSIS solutions with comprehensive error handling and auditing
Proven experience with technical requirements analysis, business process modelling/mapping, methodology development.
Hands-on knowledge of enterprise repository tools, data mapping tools, and data profiling tools
Essential requirements - experience with Azure data factory, Azure Synapse, sql server, SSIS
Desirable requirements - BIML (Business Intelligence Markup Language) and with experience to move data from on prem to cloud using automated frameworks
